Panel member must have at least five (5) years experience as a practicing attorney. Panel member must also have a certain level of experience in family law matters. Family law matters are broken into six (6) categories. An attorney may qualify for any one or more of these categories:
1. Divorce and Economic Issues of Divorce
The attorney must have been involved in at least three cases which were heard by a Divorce Master during the preceding two year period of time.
2. Child Custody
The attorney must have attended at least five custody conciliation conferences over the preceding two years. The attorney must have also been involved in a minimum of two custody trials during his or her career.
3. Child Support
The attorney must have attended at least five Domestic Relations support conferences during the preceding two years. The attorney must have also been involved in at least two de novo support hearings during his or her career.
The attorney must have been involved in at least three cases during his or her career where the issue of paternity was raised in either a child support or custody case.
5. Protection from Abuse
The attorney must have been involved in at least three protection from abuse hearings during the preceding two years. In the event that child custody issues are involved in the protection from abuse case, the attorney must also meet the requirements for the child custody experience panel. In the event the protection from abuse action includes a claim for possession of the marital residence, the attorney must also meet the requirements of the divorce experience panel.
