York County Bar Association
The CLE Committee makes ongoing arrangements for convenient, cost-effective, and relevant seminars of interest to practitioners.  Topics are a result of member requests or timely legal issues as well as substantive legal updates in business, real estate, domestic, bankruptcy, estate planning, criminal, litigation, and other areas of the law.  Additionally, seminars are scheduled in other topics critical to the practice of law, including ethics, marketing, and technology.  Dozens of live seminars are offered on a yearly basis, and video replays are scheduled regularly too.  The seminars are provided in a variety of formats including lunch time sessions (Lunch and Learn), as well as morning and afternoon offerings.  The CLE Committee strives to schedule programs that will offer an added dimension to continuing legal education by utilization of strategic speakers and providing unique topics.

I.          2008 Committee Goals

The primary goal of the committee has been to provide seminar opportunities for members of the Bar.  Those opportunities are evaluated based upon the interest expressed in a topic, the availability of expertise, the convenience of local facilities and the existence of other seminar opportunities through different organizations.

II.        Project Status Report

Our on-going efforts have resulted in increased seminar opportunities, thus fulfilling our goal.  We presented more than 30 seminars and over 900 individuals attended through December of 2008.  There were 27 PBI videos scheduled, which included 18 ethic credits and 88 substantive credits.

III.       Recommendations for the Committee for 2009

The committee intends to continue along its present path by making available more seminar programs on a wider range of topics.  We will continue to evaluate programs based upon the criteria mentioned above.

IV.       Other Suggestions and Comments

Many of the seminars that we have been offering have resulted from inquiries by members of the Bar Association.  Accordingly, the committee thanks those of you who have suggested and/or presented seminars.  Further, we invite all of you to contact any member of the Committee should you desire to investigate the possibility of a seminar.  Thank you for your support.
