An equal justice system? Let’s start with the professionals! The tragedy of George Floyd's death, and many others, at the hands of a white police officer has spurred a renewed conversation about who we are as a country. In the legal sphere, we are seeing members of the community come together and look inward, asking what they can do to better confront racism and inequality. Moderated by Ophelia Chambliss with panelists, YCBF Secretary Sydney C. Benson, Benson Legal Services, Angela Odjidja Boateng, WellSpan Health, Kanika D. Henderson, York County Office of Conflict Counsel, YCBF Board Member Timothy J. Henderson, Office of the District Attorney, and Sandra Thompson, Law Office of Sandra Thompson, LLC, this conversation addressing perceptions and experiences is designed to build a better understanding and appreciation for Black attorneys in a variety of environments and circumstances. We will learn about where the blind spots are and where we go from here. Time permitting there will be Q&A. Please take this brief survey regarding your thoughts on race, racism, and its effect on the practice of law Responses will be used to inform the conversation.
