Leave A Legacy® York County is a volunteer-run program designed to inspire people just like you to make a charitable bequest. 

Leave A Legacy® York County strengthens the York County community through charitable giving by:

• Assisting York County nonprofit organizations in promoting bequests and planned gifts.
• Encouraging York County professional advisers to include charitable giving in the estate planning process.
• Promoting planned giving directly to the public.

Leaving a gift to your favorite charities will not affect your financial stability and serves to avoid PA inheritance tax after you pass. It’s also an easy, wonderful way to endow your annual gift, honor the memory of someone special and ensure your favorite charities continue their missions long beyond your lifetime.

Peggy's Story

I chose Animal Rescue Inc to be included in my will. I've been actively donating to them for approximately 15-20 years. It all began when I attended their Dogs Day in the Park event. As my own dog was too shy to attend, I rented one of theirs from their "rent a dog" booth.  What a lovely idea! Later, I brought a truckload of food and miscellaneous items from their wish list to their facility and a volunteer gave me a tour. I met so many friendly, caring, and devoted people. I was hooked! The animals at the rescue are well cared for and loved.

I never thought about including a charitable organization in my will, but one day it struck me. Considering that all my family members are already well taken care of and I have no children of my own, I realized that Animal Rescue Inc would be the logical choice. I believe it's important to support those who have been abandoned or surrendered through no fault of their own.

Many people might not be aware of how easy it is to include a charity in your will. I think it's important to bring more awareness to this opportunity. It feels good to know I’ll still be able to help them after I’m gone.
