Herbert B. Cohen Inns of Court

Continuing our efforts to foster civility and professionalism as well as make progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal professions remains a priority of the York County Bar.

WHAT IS AN INN OF COURT?

The American Inns of Court is an association of lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals from all levels and backgrounds who share a passion for professional excellence. Through regular meetings, members can build and strengthen professional relationships; discuss fundamental concerns about professionalism and pressing legal issues of the day; share experiences and advice; exhort the utmost passion and dedication for the law; provide mentoring opportunities; and advance the highest levels of integrity, ethics, and civility. Established in 1999, the namesake of the York Chapter is YCBA member Herbert B. Cohen, a lawyer, politician, and judge who ably served the Commonwealth as Attorney General and Supreme Court Justice.

Pay it Forward: Scholarship and Meeting Sponsorship Opportunities

The theme for the Herbert B. Cohen Inn is “Back to the Future: Professionalism and Technology." This year there are new opportunities to help us grow our Inn membership and support its quality programs.

Senior members of the Bar are encouraged to consider “Adopting a New Member” with a fully tax-deductible scholarship gift of $45. This will enable the Herbert B. Cohen Inn to provide a 50% discount on dues for new Associate members. Scholarship donors will be listed in the annual dinner program (unless request to be anonymous).

The Inn is also seeking sponsors for the six (6) upcoming meeting and programs to help keep the attendance cost to members affordable. The fee to sponsor an event is $500. Meeting sponsor benefits include being listed on the Inns of Court announcements as the Meeting Sponsor which is sent to all members, prospective members, and past members. Sponsors will be given a three-minute segment at the start of the program to introduce themselves/their firm to the group and will be able to distribute firm marketing materials at the program meetings, if desired.
